Ilja Tabujew studied biomedical chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and received his diploma in 2013. As a student, he aided the research on biodegradable PPS-b-PDLLA diblock copolymers (Prof. Dr. Frey), as well as the research on the influence of interleukins on the functionality of CD4+ T-cells (PD. Dr. Jonuleit) and he also investigated the utility of Alzheimer therapeutics (Dr. Kojro). As an undergraduate, he conducted research on guanidinium group containing block copolymers for siRNA delivery and peptide conjugation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peneva and Prof. Dr. Müllen at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. During his PhD, he continued with his work on well-defined, water-soluble, guanidinium group-containing copolymers, aiming to unravel the relationship between the architecture of a polymer and its viability as a delivery agent for siRNA or DNA.
