Born on the 17th of December, 1989, in Budapest, Gergely received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2012 and his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering in 2014 at the Technical University of Budapest. He started his PhD at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2014 In Prof. Péter Kele’s research group. He was synthetizing novel fluorogenic markers for biological labelling. During his studies, he spent one semester in 2013 with Erasmus at TU Delft, in the Netherlands and one semester in 2016 with Erasmus+ in Leuven, Belgium. After PhD, he spent half a year as a postdoc at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium at Prof. Charles-André Fustin’s research group. Since January 2020, he is a postdoc in Prof. Kalina Peneva’s research group in Jena.
